Jeep Tours in the Arrábida Natural Park From Sesimbra: Which One to Book?
Updated October 20, 2026 · 5 min read
For most people, book the 3-hour Nature Jeep Tour from Sesimbra harbour: it costs €60 per person, is rated 4.9 from 10 reviews and drives the main viewpoints of the park without a long transfer first. The other four trips add wine, a beach hike or a boat, and they differ more in what they include than in how rough the road is.
Why a jeep, and what you actually see
Arrábida is a limestone ridge that drops straight into the Atlantic, and part of the park is protected. One booking page says some sites can only be reached with the park’s permission, and that many tracks are only passable by jeep. A guide who knows which gate is open is the real product here, more than the vehicle.
The stops are almost the same on every trip: the Alto do Jaspe viewpoint (also called Brecha da Arrábida), the viewpoint at the Convento da Arrábida, the Lapa de Santa Margarida cave and Portinho da Arrábida. What changes is what is added: Azeitão wine, Sesimbra Castle, a beach, or lunch. If you want the cape instead of the mountains, the jeep trips to Cabo Espichel are covered in our guide to Cabo Espichel from Sesimbra.
The five trips
| Trip | Price | Time | Reviews | Starts |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Nature Jeep Tour | €60 | 3 hours | 4.9 · 10 | Sesimbra harbour |
| Jeep tour with wine tasting at Azeitão | €65 | 4 hours | 4.9 · 3 | Sesimbra harbour |
| Arrábida National Park Jeep Tour | €75 | 4 hours | 4.9 · 12 | Azeitão |
| Boat trip and jeep tour with lunch | €120 | 7 hours | 5.0 · 1 | Sesimbra harbour |
| Jeep tour to Galapinhos beach | €145 | 6 hours | 4.7 · 10 | hotel pickup |
The €60 Nature Jeep Tour. Guides speak English, Portuguese, Spanish and French. The page lists the jeep, a local guide, insurance, a regional sweet and Moscatel wine. It stops at the viewpoints above, with walks at places of “incredible beauty”, and a stop in Azeitão where local food can be tasted at your own cost. The page carries a “wheelchair accessible” label, but this is a hillside tour with walks, so ask the operator what that means in practice before you book. One reviewer took teenage sons and called it a great family outing.
The €65 trip with Azeitão wine. Limited to 14 people. On top of the viewpoints it adds a one-hour guided visit at the José Maria da Fonseca wine house museum in Azeitão, with a wine tasting, and a 20-minute photo stop at Sesimbra Castle. It has only 3 reviews, so the score says little yet. Choose it if wine is part of the reason you are here; if not, the €60 trip is shorter and cheaper.
The €75 tour from Azeitão. This is the most reviewed of the jeep trips that stay in Arrábida: 4.9 from 12 reviews, run by a different operator, with an English or Portuguese guide. It meets at an address in Azeitão, not at Sesimbra harbour, so count the drive to get there. The page lists wine tasting and a visit to a cellar, and lists lunch among the inclusions, but one reviewer wrote that the guide recommended a restaurant for lunch, so ask whether a meal is really included. Pregnant women are listed as not suitable. A reviewer from 2026 found the winery visit unnecessary, since “everyone who visits the region is already visiting wineries”.
The €120 boat and jeep trip. Seven hours: about 2.5 hours on a boat from Sesimbra harbour, lunch at Portinho da Arrábida (listed as included), then about 3 hours in a 4x4. The page mentions the possibility of seeing dolphins. It has a single five-star review, so treat the rating as a first impression. It also carries the “wheelchair accessible” label; get that confirmed in writing, because the day includes a boat and off-road trails.
The €145 trip to Galapinhos. It is a private group in a classic open Jeep, with pickup from your accommodation in Sesimbra, and the price is shown “per person”, so check what your party would pay. Of the 6 hours, the page plans a 45-minute walk to Galapinhos beach and about 1.5 hours of free time, with a stop at the Roman ruins near the main beach and the Serra do Risco cliff on the way back. The page rules out people with back problems, mobility impairments and heart problems. It is rated 4.7 from 10 reviews, the lowest of the five.
Driving Arrábida yourself
You can do the viewpoints in your own car, and the sights above are public places. The catch is summer. In 2026 the Setúbal municipality closed the roads to Portinho da Arrábida, Creiro and Galapos to most private cars daily from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm, from 4 June to 15 September. Residents, buses, taxis, two-wheelers and licensed tour operators are exempt, according to Time Out Lisboa. The dates are set each season, so look up the current rules before you plan a summer visit. If you still want a car for the rest of the week, you can compare car rental for Sesimbra and Setúbal, but outside the restricted hours and months is when it pays off here.
Practical points
- Footwear and sun. The two private trips ask for comfortable shoes, a sun hat and sunscreen, and the wine trip asks for practical, sporty shoes. Wear the same on any of them.
- Open-top or not. The Galapinhos trip is described as a classic Jeep cabrio, and the private cape trip mentions open-top options. On the others, check the vehicle if you are sensitive to wind or sun.
- Cancellation. All five pages show free cancellation up to 24 hours before the start.
- Lisbon departure. If you are coming from Lisbon, a private jeep trip to the cape and wild beaches (€139, 22 reviews, 7 hours) offers pickup in Lisbon, Setúbal, Sesimbra or Palmela. Our guide to getting from Lisbon to Sesimbra compares it with the bus and a car.
Which should you pick?

For a wider look at the park, our adventure tours in Arrábida page lists the other land and sea options, and the guided hikes cover the same mountains on foot. If you only book one, make it the €60 Nature Jeep Tour.
